Hope everyone is thawing out from two days of great, but very cold, skiing. Sunapee was a lot of fun, and it was a great opportunity to ski some different terrain and make some new friends.
Next Saturday, February 1, we’ll be back at Sunapee again for a USSA U10 “Kombi” race. “Kombi” is an event designed for young racers that includes elements of Giant Slalom and Slalom, with many types of gates and turns in the same course. It will pretty much just be us and Sunapee again, so we should be able to race and also have plenty of time to head back to the terrain park, explore the mountain etc… The big difference is that we will meet a bit earlier (8 or 8:15) which I will let you know later in the week. For this race — like Ragged — you need to pre-register by going to AlpineReg.com
As family members of the racers you will be entitled to buy tickets at the same group rates we received this past weekend — but the procedure is a little different as you will just to the group sales office where they have a list of all the race entrants.
Sunday, Feb 2, we’ll be at the Skiway for a regular training day.
The following Saturday, February 8, we’ve been invited to a special event at Whaleback that many of the kids did last year. It’s called “Masters of the Mountain” — and, conditions permitting, will include slopestyle or mogul elements as well as some fun racing. The focus is really on all-mountain skiing skills and fun rather than racing. I don’t yet know what the registration procedure will be — but it will either be that I submit a list or kids just show up on the day of the event. I will let you know as soon as I know.
One other note — a few people got a stray schedule post from the fall recently, can’t seem to figure out why or what happened. If you ever have a question about the schedule, your best resource is to go the online calendar.
